Systems + Technology
Passive House Principles
PASSIVE HOUSE
Passive House buildings achieve superior comfort, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality through integrated design, airtight and well-insulated building enclosures, high-performance windows, and balanced ventilation systems. These buildings use 90% less energy for heating and cooling than traditional buildings.
HRV
HRV (HEAT RECOVERY VENTILATION)
Heat recovery ventilation promotes healthy indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and prevents uncomfortable cold spots in the home. HRVs in conjunction with an airtight building envelope are the baseline on which all of Evolve's buildings are designed.
Triple Pane Windows
TRIPLE PANE DOORS / WINDOWS
Triple pane windows have two spacers that separate the panes of glass. The premium spacer is made from superior quality silicone, resistant to UV light oxidation, and offers great argon gas retention for higher energy efficiency.
Triple Glazed Skylights
TRIPLE PANE SKYLIGHTS
Superior thermal efficiency and improved noise reduction. PHI (Passive House International) Certified with a thermal bridge-free frame to optimize performance in high-performance construction projects.
Fluid Applied Waterproofing
FLUID APPLIED WATERPROOFING
Up to 50% of the energy consumed by homes is wasted through air infiltration and exfiltration. Fluid-applied waterproofing systems help insulation perform to its maximum value and reduce the energy needed for heating and cooling.
AeroBarrier
SUPER TIGHT BUILDING ENCLOSURES UTILIZING AEROBARRIER
AeroBarrier is a fast and effective way to increase efficiency via sealing air leaks in the building envelope. A pressurized aerosol application method that has shown promising results in achieving extreme airtightness targets.
Continuous Exterior Insulation
CONTINUOUS EXTERIOR INSULATION
Continuous exterior insulation prevents thermal bridging by completely wrapping all six sides of the building — walls, roof, foundation — substantially increasing energy efficiency, improving interior comfort and air quality, and reducing exterior noise penetration.
Sub-Slab Insulation
SUB-SLAB INSULATION
Insulated slabs undergo less air convection. At nearly room temperature, the basement walls act as a heat reservoir, buffering interior temperature fluctuations and preventing condensation at slab-to-wall transitions.
Havelock Wool
HAVELOCK WOOL INSULATION
The majority of the population spends up to 90% of their time indoors. Indoor air quality, flammability performance, and heat and moisture management are major benefits of using Havelock Wool — a natural, non-toxic cavity insulation.
Photovoltaics
PHOTOVOLTAIC
Solar panels provide low maintenance, clean renewable energy. When combined with stationary battery storage, they enable energy security and potential independence. System sizing based on verified post-construction energy loads.
Stationary Battery
STATIONARY BATTERIES
A home battery that charges using electricity generated from solar panels or when utility rates are low. Automated, compact and designed for independence from the utility grid and emergency backup security.
EV Charger
ELECTRIC CAR CHARGER
Level 2 EV charging infrastructure integrated at design. Electrical panel capacity planned for current and future EV demand. Pre-wired for multi-vehicle households.
Exterior Blinds
EXTERIOR BLINDS
Exterior shading systems deliver significant energy savings, improve interior comfort, and enhance building aesthetics and privacy. Fully automated systems ensure optimum temperature management even when unoccupied.
Electrochromic Glass
TINTABLE ELECTROCHROMIC GLASS
Energy lost through conventional windows accounts for approximately 30% of heating and cooling energy. Electrochromic glass is energy-efficient and removes the need for shading devices that block views and are less sustainable.
Schöck Isokorb
SCHÖCK ISOKORB®
Traditional balcony construction allows valuable heat to escape while creating cold spots that force HVAC systems to work harder. Schöck Isokorb structural thermal breaks thermally separate the exterior structure from the interior, optimizing connection performance.
Smart Home
SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY
Beyond convenience and security, the main goal of Smart Home Integration is energy saving and efficiency. Working with Advanced Metering Infrastructure allows homeowners to create a network between smart appliances, thermostats, lighting, and electronic devices.
Grey Water
GREY WATER HARVESTING
Greywater makes up 30–50% of wastewater discharged into sewers. Greywater recycling offers the chance to cut water use by up to half with high recovery rates, negligible residue, and energy efficiency.
Rainwater
RAINWATER HARVESTING
Rainwater harvesting collects and stores rainwater from rooftops for later use. Evolve typically uses above-grade tanks or bladders in the crawl space, integrated with stormwater management to reduce site runoff.
Structured Plumbing
STRUCTURED PLUMBING WITH A DEDICATED RETURN LINE
Structured Plumbing uses an on-demand pump, controls, and activation mechanisms at each hot water location. The pump primes the hot water line on demand, and the supply loop is located close to each outlet — minimizing water waste at the beginning of each draw.
